Former Soviet Central Asia and the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict with Ran Ichay
Watch on YouTube
Description
The collapse of the Soviet Union spawned many states, some of them newly independent and Muslim-majority countries, such as the “stans,” with no historical baggage regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Hence, they represent an opportunity and challenge for the two sides. How have things worked out over the past thirty-plus years? What are current trends? What are the future implications of these states for the conflict?
Ran Ichay is the director of the Jerusalem Center for Applied Research. He served in the Israeli government in 1995-2019, including in the prime minister's office, director general of the Jerusalem ministry, and as ambassador to Kazakhstan. Mr. Ichay holds a BA and a MA from Bar Ilan University.
