Wider Implications of the Fighting in Gaza with Aryeh Lightstone

Description

The Hamas-Israel war has many implications beyond the immediate theater. Two U.S. aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean have approached. Hezbollah launched rockets and missiles. Pro-Hamas petitions and demonstrations are expanding. What are the stakes for the combatants? What are the implications for relations between Israel and the Arab states? What has the Biden administration gotten right and wrong?

Aryeh Lightstone served as senior advisor to the U.S. ambassador to Israel for David Friedman in 2017-21. In that role, he helped advance U.S.-Israel relations with a focus on economic development and technology cooperation. He also worked on opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem and its merger with the Jerusalem consulate. He is the author of "Let My People Know," (Encounter Books, 2022) an inside account of the Abraham Accords. He has a BA from Yeshiva University.
