The contemporary Left makes extensive use of tropes and slogans that originated in the Soviet Union's anti-Israel propaganda of the 1967-91 era. In the wake of Israel's Six Day War victory, the USSR made "International Zionism" a primary ideological enemy and devoted massive resources to fighting it. What specific ideas did Moscow spread? How did it do so? What audiences did it target? How do these ideas continue to influence events today?

Izabella Tabarovsky is senior advisor at the Kennan Institute of the Wilson Center and a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism & Policy (ISGAP). Her book on Soviet anti-Zionist propaganda campaigns is forthcoming from Routledge. Based in Jerusalem, she holds a BA from University of Colorado-Boulder and an MA from Harvard University.
