A Free Iran and a New Middle East | Mehrdad Marty Youssefiani on Israel's Channel 14

Description

In an interview with Channel 14, Mehrdad Marty Youssefiani, director of MEF’s Iran Freedom Project, outlines what political transition in Iran could require if the Islamic Republic of Iran loses its grip on power.

He explains why the regime’s legitimacy has been fundamentally weakened, why no single faction can define Iran’s future, and why democratic reconstruction must include the country’s full political and social diversity.

The discussion also addresses the symbolic role of Reza Pahlavi, the long-term challenge of rebuilding national institutions, and how a post-regime Iran could reshape regional relations through stability, trade, and renewed diplomatic openings, including with Israel.
